The Park and Recreation Commission has jurisdiction over several parks in Chatham:
The charm of Kate Gould Park, near the center of town, is enhanced on Friday evenings during July and August when as many as 6,000 people gather for concerts by the widely known Chatham Band at Whit Tileston Band Stand.
Chase Park, on Cross Street, includes the Grist Mill (address is 125 Shattuck Place), The Chatham Labyrinth, and also contains a bowling green, picnic tables, and a comfort station.
Adjoining the traffic rotary on Main Street is the William Nickerson Memorial Park site of Chatham's WWII Memorial. On the site of a former commercial building, the park was a joint effort of the town, the Chatham Improvement Association, and Friends of Trees. It is now maintained by the Chatham Garden Club.
Volunteer Park, on Sam Ryder Road, contains 2 baseball fields, 2 horseshoe pits, and picnic tables and added Skateboard Park includes ramps, pipes, grinds, and a half-pipe. For use with skateboards and in-line skates. Helmets Required – No Bikes.
Children's Playground located behind the Chatham Community Center and adjacent to Veteran's Field (Home of the Chatham Angler's). The new playground includes several custom features designed specifically for the Chatham "Community Tot Lot". One structure is designed to resemble a ship, another a lighthouse. There is a ride-on shark and tuna as well as swings.
